Local Visitor Attractions
Being well located, Ballagan Farm Cottages offers the opportunity to enjoy a weekend away from your normal life and relaxation amidst the stunning surrounding views. Nestling between Stirling and Glasgow, the small town of Balloch is becoming one of the most sought after tourist venus in Scotland. Balloch alone has numerous restaurants and bistros in addition to some very well appointed public houses. There is also a pharmacy, post-office and a supermarket. Round trips of Loch Lomond are available with Sweeney's boat cruises.
Nearby Balloch Castle Country Park has become renowned
for its ability to attract world famous musicians to play
shows with audiences numbering as many as 40,000. To date
Runrig,
Oasis and most recently REM have played on the
shores of Loch Lomond. As well as these pop cultured bands,
Balloch hosts a Folk Festival on the last weekend of July every year
which is a really great experience.
If you would really like to treat yourself to a shopping trip to remember then why not take the short journey to Loch Lomond Shores Shopping and Visitor Centre which plays host to some of the most beautiful scenery you will see in this fine country. Also at Loch Lomond Shores there is a newly appointed restaurant and Aquarium.
For a more action packed break there are two local public swimming
pools
with sauna facilities within ten minutes travel. The Meadow Centre
is very child friendly with a chute and wave machine. Alternatively
you could travel to the newest attraction in the area, Xscape which
has a cinema, ten pin bowling, rock climbing, a snow slope and much
more. Xscape is also neighbour to Braehead
Shopping Centre.
Loch Lomond is one of the most popular venues for weddings in Scotland. The most sought after locations in the area are Cameron House, Duck Bay Marina, Ross Priory, Lodge on the Loch, the Dumbuck and its sister hotel, the Abbotsford.
Ballagan Farm Cottages is situated perfectly for all golf lovers with a tricky little 9-hole course only 10 minutes drive away. The Strathendrick course will give any keen golfer a test and being £10.00 for 9-holes or £14.00 for 18 holes it is worth the money.
DeVere Hotels, owners of Cameron House, will shortly open a more inclusive 18-hole course called the Carrick (www.devere.co.uk), which will be on the edge of the Loch and adjacent to the world famous Loch Lomond Golf Club.
